Zarlink Launches VOIP Chipsets

Zarlink is a leading supplier of voice telephony integrated circuits. On April 14th 2009, the company announced VE8820 Voice Port Series of VOIP enabled services with VOIP chipsets which will allow manufacturers to meet power, performance and cost requirements for supporting high quality voice service equipments over the broadband networks.

These VE8820 VOIP chipsets consume 50% less power that other devices and is a more convenient approach for any broadband applications. These efficient chipsets assist equipment manufacturers to comply with the emerging environmental standards outlined on the European Code of Conduct. The best feature of these chipsets is that performs smoothly even with low power and thus ensures uninterrupted voice service in battery backed systems.

Jacques Issa, the Director of VOIP Marketing and Applications with Zarlink’s group told in a recent press conference that these VOIP chipsets are designed to address the various concerns of both the service providers and manufacturers of VOIP products. He further commented that the integrated remote line diagnostic capabilities of these chips allow users to minimize their operating costs by quickly identifying and resolving the issues of their customers.

The main advantage of these chips from the manufacturer’s point of view is that it helps the users to reduce their bill of materials cost and it eases the equipment design which meets the new environmental standards of the communities of the world.

Some of the features of VOIP chipsets are high voltage switching regulators, integrated ringing, caller ID generation and all BORSCHT functions. The VE8820 chipsets helps in implementing a dual channel telephone line interface by providing all the necessary voice functions from a high voltage subscriber line to a DSP digital interface.

Benefits of VE8820 VOIP chipsets
Integrated Power Management: These chipsets come with high voltage switching regulator controllers that supports a high input voltage range. Apart from this, it also comes with a low power idle and an on hook transmission states.

VoicePath: These chipsets come with Voice Path API II software which implements FXS functions and also supports chipset calibration. It also provides for line configuration with the help of the VoicePath Profile Wizard.

These are some of the benefits of VOIP chipsets. These chipsets support both wideband and narrowband telephone operations and is also compatible with other VOIP devices and services. As mentioned earlier, this device is supported by the VoicePath API-II software development kit which assists the manufacturers in simplifying, designing and it increases the speed of their product development processes.
